Last updated: July 18, 2026

Counsl ("we", "us", "our") provides AI-assisted legal document analysis. This Privacy Policy explains what we collect, how we use it, and the choices you have. By using Counsl you agree to this policy.

1. Information we collect

  • Account data: email, authentication identifiers, and (if you use Google sign-in) your Google profile basics.
  • Documents & content: files you upload, text you paste, and chat messages you send about a document.
  • Usage data: logs, device/browser info, and analytics needed to run and improve the service.
  • Billing data: processed by our payment provider; we do not store full card numbers.

2. How we use your data

  • Provide document analysis, summaries, chat, and comparison features.
  • Operate accounts, subscriptions, referrals, and support.
  • Protect the service (fraud, abuse, security).
  • Comply with legal obligations.

We do not sell your personal data.

3. AI processing

Document contents are sent to trusted AI providers solely to generate the analysis you requested. We do not permit these providers to use your content to train their models.

4. Sharing

We share data only with service providers who help us operate Counsl, including:

  • Hosting, database and authentication providers
  • AI providers that generate document analysis
  • Email delivery providers for transactional messages
  • Paddle.com Market Ltd, our Merchant of Record, for checkout, subscription management, payments, tax compliance, and invoicing
  • Professional advisers and authorities where required by law

All are bound by confidentiality obligations. We do not sell your personal data.

5. Retention

We retain your documents and analyses while your account is active. You can delete individual documents at any time; deleting your account removes associated content within 30 days, subject to legal retention requirements.

6. Security

We use encryption in transit, access controls, and row-level security. No system is 100% secure — please do not upload documents containing information you are not authorized to process.

7. Your rights

Depending on your jurisdiction (GDPR, CCPA, etc.), you may request access, correction, deletion, or export of your data. Contact us to exercise these rights.

8. Children
